St. Patrick was one of the greatest evangelists. One of my favorite, yet sad, stories of his gospel endeavors:
“While in Ireland, Patrick shared the gospel with his former slave owner, Miliuc the Druid. But instead of turning his back on his pagan gods, Miliuc locked himself in his house and set it on fire while Patrick stood outside and pleaded with him to turn to Christ. It is said that Miliuc drowned out Patrick’s pleas by crying out to his false gods.”
Other St. Patrick facts:
-wasn’t Irish (He was English)
-was an escaped slave of the Irish (6 years) who later returned to evangelize them, winning thousands to Christ
-rebellious teenager who didn’t believe in God
-dad and grandfather were a deacon and a pastor
-became a Christian as a teenager while enslaved
-believed God enslaved him to get his attention and save him
-he should be called Patrick of Ireland as all believers are saints
-it’s a myth he chased all the snakes from Ireland
-he believed in the Trinity and used the three leaf clover to talk about them
-trained and ordained hundreds of ministers
-established churches and schools
-may/may not have wore green
