It never fails, when I’m eating lunch with someone, meeting a friend for coffee, or just shopping for something at a store, I almost always encounter someone I did not expect to meet and have an opportunity to extend God’s hope and love.
While having coffee with a guy who’s visiting the church, this young lady approaches us afterwards and thanks as for our conversation about Jesus. I knew I was visiting with the guy about the Lord, but what else was God up to? You never know who’s listening, so talk about your love for Jesus.
When I was dropping a package off at the post office, a guy had several packages in his hands, could not open the door, and dropped one. I stopped to help, asked him a common question, and it led to a spiritual conversation. It was bigger than mailing a package at that moment. It always is.
I had to run into Lowe’s to get something real quick for church, and I see a guy staring at a lawnmower. I jokingly said, “That’s the one, let me help you load it in your truck.” We joked around for a moment, talked about lawnmowers, then it led to me praying for his grandson. There’s a prayer need behind every lawnmower looker.
I had to grab a few things for kids’ lunches at the store. I noticed there was only one worker, she was very pregnant, and she was trying to move everything inside for the night by herself. I rounded up all of the shopping carts for her and she thanked me. There was my Gospel moment. serving people in small ways can lead to conversations about Jesus.
Don’t miss the gospel opportunities in front of you today. Whatever you do, wherever you go, there will be people there who need Jesus. Look up. Look around. Use the normal occurrences and every day conversations to minister Jesus’ hope and God’s love.
