The Restoration of Brothers and Sisters

“Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted.” -Galatians‬ ‭6:1‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Let’s break it down:

“Bothers and sisters” – family of God

“If someone” – your family

“Caught in a sin” – rescue your family from the devils trap before he steals, kills, and destroys your family

“You who live by the Spirit” – do it God’s way with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, goodness, and self control

“Should restore that person” – go after them, don’t throw them away, disciple them, don’t abandon family, don’t shame them, teach them about forgiveness, repentance, grace

“Gently” – love your family through it, encourage, don’t humiliate, don’t be rude, don’t be soft with sin, but don’t destroy them either. Lead them back to abundant life in Jesus

“Watch yourselves” – you sin also, you need grace also, don’t get high and mighty, stay humble and compassionate, be transparent, let someone else help you with your sin

“You also may be tempted” – it could be you, it will be you, treat them like you would want to be treated, remember those who never gave up on you, remember He loves you where you are but won’t leave you there
