Pastors:
10% of people will love and support you no matter what. Thank God for them. They are friends and family.
Less than 1% of people (probably one or two over many years) will question everything you do and never befriend you. Their spiritual gift to you is being your thorn. They probably don’t even like your dog. They are set on being your foes.
89%+ of people just want to know what you believe, teach, support, where you stand, and see your integrity lived out. They love your family, even at a distance. They look to you for inspiration and advice. They know you’re not perfect, don’t expect you to be, but they see your example and will follow as you walk towards Jesus. They are your flock.
100% of Jesus loves and called you.
Don’t minimize or idolize the first, don’t quit or worry because of the second, don’t take for granted the third, and do it all with and for the fourth (He’s really the 1st!). They all make you into a better pastor.
