Let God Heal You Through Scripture

Need God to heal your emotions? Carrying hurt way too long from the past?

Need painful memories to cease?

Are you in bondage to anxiety? Abuse? Addiction? Stress? Dysfunction? Regret?

One Scripture that helps me a lot is Psalm 46. It’s powerful! Psalm 46 is great and if applied regularly can be a healing balm from the Lord to make you whole and more focused on Jesus instead of your pain and past.

Let’s take 15 minutes and work through it together. If you do physical workout for 15 min, why not a spiritual exercise?

Don’t have 15 min? Well, that hurt and trauma has been robbing from you for months, maybe years!

Isn’t 15 minutes of spiritual rehab better than continued hurt? If not now, when?

Stop letting satan steal from you and get the inner healing and restoration from the Holy Spirit that God desires for you. It’s time!

Let’s begin. Block out all distractions, get to a quiet place, and open up in prayer by saying, “Holy Spirit, do whatever you want. I give it all to you.”

First, you need the truth of God’s word. Slowly read Psalm 46 all the way through. (1-2 min)

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts. The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Come and see what the Lord has done, the desolations he has brought on the earth. He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth. He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the shields with fire. He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.’ The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.”- Psalms‬ ‭46:1-11‬ ‬‬

Next, go back and read it again one phrase at a time and stop to meditate on each phrase. Circle words or phrases the Holy Spirit emphasizes. (3-4 min)

Now, open your heart and mind to the hurt you’ve been carrying and invite Jesus in to minister truth and grace. Let Him apply each phrase to your hurt. (3-4 min)

Go back and read it again. Allow the Holy Spirit to point out that word or phrase again you circled. Maybe it’s “refuge” or “strength”. Allow the Holy Spirit to comfort you with that attribute of Him. Reflect on how that quality of the Lord overcomes your hurt and pain. (2 min)

Try and picture each verse as a scene in a movie. Let it play out in your mind as you read it. Let the Lord bring victory in your mind, emotions, and past as you dwell on God’s word. (2-3 min)

Pray through each verse out loud. Stop after each phrase and ask God to be and do each phrase in your life. (2-3 min)

Pick out a verse that really jumps out. Memorize it by saying it over and over. Write that verse down and carry it with you, saying it when the hurt rears it’s ugly head. (2-3 min)

Repeat this with other scriptures, especially the Psalms. Meditate on the Lord and His word and let the Holy Spirit comfort, help, heal, and restore you.

I just did this about a situation presently going on in my life. Oh how it blocked the voice of the enemy! Oh how it stopped satans lies in their tracks! Oh how it got my mind focused back on Jesus! What perfect peace, unspeakable joy, and calming refreshment God brought to me just now!

Praying for you! Don’t give up! Look to Jesus! Be still and know He is God!
