New Book This October

I had plans to release a marriage devotion book this October, but God has rearranged that. Over the last few months, I’ve been journaling through Colossians, and that has had a tremendously positive impact on my relationship with Christ, bringing more trust, expectancy, and joy in Jesus. He is truly supreme in all things – my life, worship, creation, the Church, my flesh, my family, and so much more! His preeminence is evident throughout Colossians, but especially in the first two chapters, and this shapes our response (last half).

So, I turned it into an 8-week daily devotional set to release in October. I’m so excited about this new spiritual growth resource.

A quick note on why I publish my writing. I’ve had an almost daily habit of writing as I study the Scriptures. It helps me process the Word better. It also helps me teach it better. One of the main reasons I publish some of it is discipleship. Every believer is called to make disciples. I’ve seen these books have an impact on individuals, but really, my goal is for the church as a whole.

Probably one goal I have seen currently achieved through my publications is the discipleship of my family. My kids have read and used some of these in their personal growth and with their discipleship groups. They are using them to disciple others! Another reason I publish is to provide my grandkids and future generations with insight into their spiritual heritage. We shape our family trees through our actions (good or bad), whether we realize it or not. One thing that will outlast me is the books I write. I pray that future generations in my family will use them as a resource and grow closer to Jesus. So, if no one but my kids, grandkids, and other generations read them, I’ve succeeded in generational discipleship. I may never meet my grandkids, great-grandkids, or beyond, but I pray they meet and love Jesus.
