Joy From Jesus: Day 2

The father of a righteous child has great joy; a man who fathers a wise son rejoices in him. -Proverbs 23:24

There are a couple of things I’ve committed to doing daily to usher in the joy from Jesus. They’ve been a boost to my soul! I read and meditate on God’s Word, spend time in thankful prayer, encourage at least one person, and look for a way to serve and be generous. This morning, I called a friend and rejoiced with him about the birth of his third son. My wife is good with baby names, but not me. This one will be easy to remember: “Harrison”. I prayed with him and welcomed my friend to the “three kid club”. What joy a new life brings!

This made me recall the births of my three kids – pure joy! I literally sat on the edge of the bed after that conversation, laughing and weeping with great joy and thanking God for my kids! I thought of Proverbs 23:24 and how righteous and wise children bring great joy to their fathers. Oh, how that’s true of my kids. Memories flooded my mind over the next few minutes, and I texted each of them “I love you,” along with Proverbs 23:24. Watching them grow in the Lord has given me so much joy. God has so blessed my wife and me with three great kids!

God, give me many joyful years with my kids. Help me continue to shape their spiritual growth.
