Joy From Jesus: Day 4
This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. -Psalm 118:24
Today was a joyous Sunday. I recall at least three things that brought tears of joy. First, I counseled with a family before church about baptism and enjoyed hearing about how God had changed their lives. So far, I’ve baptized the oldest son, his mom, and in a couple of weeks, another son (believing God that dad is next this year). Second, I interviewed a friend who is 469 days sober today! I was with him on day 1. We have met together every week since then, and I am overwhelmed with joy at how God has used him to help others be free. Third, I watched a guy in my church take his first steps in almost a year after being sick. God is so good!
Psalm 118:24 says, “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” The Lord did not disappoint today. A bonus: A guy I’ve been praying for asked me for help getting set free today. Hallelujah! God is at work! I almost missed these joyous moments. I woke up a little depressed because I allowed something someone said to me years ago keep me awake most of last night. Has that ever happened to you? I prayed this morning, “God, today is the day you have made. I will rejoice. I will be glad. I will not let that thought rob me anymore.” Thank you, Jesus, for allowing these stories of grace to restore my joy.
What is robbing you of joy today? What story of God’s grace did you witness that restored your joy?
